World War IIDS Framnæs
The Norwegian DS Framnæs was a passenger vessel operating on the southbound Nordfjord route when it was attacked by Allied aircraft on 8 November 1944 near Apeneset. The attack was likely aimed at a German convoy anchored in the same area. Framnæs was damaged and run aground at Apeneset. In addition to the crew, there were 60–70 passengers on board, as well as a number of live animals among the cargo. Two crew members and six passengers were killed in the attack. Framnæs was later repaired and continued sailing for the remainder of the war. The ship was broken up in 1951.
