World War IIDS Strombus
The SS Strombus was torpedoed by a German U-boat during the First World War but managed to stay afloat. The vessel was taken over by Nortraship in April 1940. On October 26, 1940, the ship struck a mine in the Bristol Channel off Swansea. It sustained severe damage, and a storm a few days later caused the ship to break in two, leading to it being declared a total loss.
