The Seamen’s Memorial Hall is Norway’s official memorial in commemoration of the seafarers who perished during the First and the Second World War. In the crypt of the memorial, 8000 names of Norwegian and foreign deceased seafarers are engraved into copper plates. The Memorial Hall is open to visitors from 15 May to 31 August, from 11.00-17.30 all days.

The history of the Memorial Hall
The Seamen’s Memorial Hall was inagurated by King Haakon VII in 1926 in commemoration of the seafarers who perished during the First World War. After the Second World War, seafarers from this war were included in the memorial.
