World War IDS Heim

DS Heim was struck by a mine explosion on April 18, 1917, off the coast of Dieppe, approximately 10 nautical miles northeast of Pointe d’Ailly. The ship was en route from Hull to Rouen, carrying coal. Two people lost their lives in the incident. The mine had been laid on March 29, 1917, by the German submarine UC 71.
