World War IIDS Haardraade

On April 25, 1940, DS Haardraade was attacked by British aircrafts. The captain and some of the crew were granted permission by the Germans to try to make their way home in a lifeboat. Outside Stavanger, on May 5, 1940, shots were fired from the shore (by German soldiers) at the lifeboat. Johan Arnt Tvedt was hit in the head and died in the hospital from his injuries on the same day.
