World War IDS Svein Jarl
DS Svein Jarl was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-19 on June 9, 1915, northeast of Longstone. The ship was en route from Warkworth to Kirkenes carrying coal. Twelve people lost their lives in the shipwreck. Three members of the crew were later rescued by a Dutch trawler. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
