World War IDS Storstad
DS Storstad was involved in a collision with the British passenger ship SS Empress of Ireland in May 1914, which resulted in the sinking of the passenger ship with 1,011 people onboard. On March 8, 1917, Storstad was fired upon and subsequently torpedoed by the German U-boat U-62. The ship was en route from Buenos Aires to Rotterdam carrying corn for the Belgian Relief organization of the Red Cross. Three people lost their lives in the shipwreck. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no)
