World War IDS Monarch
DS Monarch was torpedoed on May 23, 1917, by the German U-boat UB-41. The ship was en route from Middlesbrough to St. Nazaire carrying fertilizer. According to the maritime enquiry, 10 persons lost their lives in the shipwreck, and it does not include Ivar Aspen among the dead. However, all newspapers reporting on the incident mentioned 11 dead, including Ivar Aspen. Please see the example below from Romsdalsposten.
