World War IBarque Asheim
Barque Asheim was sunk on July 8, 1917, by the German U-boat U-53, approximately 20 nautical miles off Inistrahull lighthouse. The ship was en route from Dublin to New York with no cargo on board. Sadly, 1 person lost his life in the sinking. (Source: Uboat.net)
