World War IDS Laly
DS Laly was torpedoed on March 25, 1917, by the German U-boat U-81 east of Shetland. The ship was en route from Fredrikstad to London with a cargo of timber. Unfortunately, all 19 crew members lost their lives in the sinking. A month later, two lifebuoys from the ship washed ashore in Rogaland. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
