World War IStålbark Alcides
The steel barque Alcides was sunk on July 31, 1917, by the German U-boat U-54 northwest of Ireland. The ship was en route from Liverpool to Savannah, GA, in ballast. The entire crew of 23, including 12 Norwegians, perished in the incident.
