World War IISS Toward

Used as a rescue ship during the Atlantic convoys. SS Toward was torpedoed on February 7, 1943 by a German uboat traveling from Halifax to Scotland. The ship had a crew of 74 men. 46 perished, including one norwegian. 28 was saved after the sinking.
