World War IIDS Bur
SS Bur ran aground on August 28, 1942, at Valiant Rock, east of Long Island Sound. The ship was en route from New Haven, Connecticut, to Immingham carrying timber and steel. The damage was extensive, leading to the ship being condemned and subsequently scrapped.
