World War IIMS Fernlane MS Fernlane was torpedoed on May 7, 1941, by the Italian U-boat Enrico Tazzoli. The ship was en route from Manchester to Freetown carrying salt, airplanes, and trucks. Everyone was rescued via lifeboats, but one man later succumbed to his injuries.
