MT Lincoln Ellsworth was torpedoed on April 6, 1941, by the German U-boat U-94. The ship was en route from Reykjavik to Trinidad in ballast. The entire crew survived the sinking and was divided between two lifeboats, which were found the next day by escort vessels.
