World War IIST William Boyce Thompson
The American ST William Boyce Thompson was damaged on May 23, 1942, in a torpedo attack by the German U-boat U-558. On July 7, 1943, the vessel was sunk by U-185 while en route from Bahia, Brazil, to Trinidad in ballast. Five people lost their lives in the sinking, and 52 were rescued.
