World War IISS Ocean Courage
The British SS Ocean Courage was torpedoed on January 15, 1943, by the German U-boat U-182. The vessel was en route from Pepel, Freetown, and Trinidad to the USA with 8,956 tons of iron ore and 8 bags of mail. Fifty-two people lost their lives, including a Norwegian passenger, and 6 were rescued.
