World War IISS El Occidente

The Panamanian-registered SS El Occidente was torpedoed on 13 April 1942 by the German U-boat U-435. The vessel was en route from Murmansk to Reykjavik and New York in ballast. Twenty lives were lost, while twenty-one persons were rescued.
