World War IISS Walter Q. Gresham

The American SS Walter Q. Gresham was torpedoed on 18 March 1943 by the German U-boat U-221 at position 53.35N, 28.05W. The vessel was en route from Santiago and New York to the Clyde, carrying 10,000 tons of general cargo, powdered milk, and sugar. Twenty-eight lives were lost, while forty-two men were rescued.
