World War IIDS Gimle The DS Gimle was torpedoed on 4 December 1939 by the German U-boat U-31 in the North Sea. The vessel was en route from Hartlepool to Gothenburg with a cargo of coal. Three men lost their lives in the sinking, and one later died from his injuries.
