World War IIDS Miranda

The DS Miranda was en route from Blyth to Oslo with a cargo of coal when it was torpedoed on 20 January 1940 by the German U-boat U-57 in the North Sea. Of the 17 crew members, only three survived. The survivors were brought to Kirkwall in Shetland.
