World War IIDS Sneland I
SS Sneland I was on a journey in an outgoing convoy from Methil to Belfast. The German electro-uboat U-2326 was commanded by Kapitänleutnant Emil Klusmeier on his first war patrol. It is uncertain if Klusmeier had received the order of return to base on May 4th, 1945. On the 7th of May 1945, the U-boat was positioned outside the Firth of Forth and torpedoed the canadian SS Avondale Park and then minutes later Sneland I. 22 survivors were saved by DS Selvik and brought to Methil. 6 Norwegians and a british sailor perished in the sinking.
