World War IIDS Frisco
SS Frisco was on a journey from Savannah to Newfoundland in Argentina. The vessel was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-130 at the 13th of January 1942 in close proximity of Long Island in position 4450N, 6020W. Later six survivors were taken in by a Danish vessel at the 14th of January and brought them to shore at North Sydney. The captain and two officers were killed in the attack while eight men managed to board the lifeboats. These eight men were never found. 10 Norwegians, two Britons and a Swede perished in the sinking.
