World War IIDS Siremalm

On March 23rd 1941 SS Siremalm was damaged by a torpedo and several artillery shells from the German U-boat U-110 off Iceland, but the ship managed to evade the U-boat. Siremalm had left Gibraltar on September 17th 1941 loaded with 4000 tons of iron ore from Almeira destined to Barrow. On 27th Septembe, Siremalm was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-124 in position 4905N 2010W. Five torpedoes was fired toward the ship and four of them hit. The ship sank immediately and there were no survivors. The crew of 20 and seven passengers perished in the sinking.
