World War IIMT Kaia Knudsen
The Norwegian MT Kaia Knudsen was lying off Milford Haven on 1 April 1941, loaded with heavy fuel oil, when the vessel was attacked by German aircraft and sustained severe damage. Fortunately, the heavy oil did not ignite. Using emergency steering, the ship managed to reach Milford Haven. The third mate was wounded and later died from his injuries, and several others were also injured in the attack. The vessel was later repaired and remained in service until it was broken up in 1959.
