World War IIMT Borgny
The Norwegian MT Borgny was en route from Son to Trondheim on 4 October 1941 with a cargo of aviation fuel, escorted by two German vessels. In Korsfjorden off Bergen, the tanker was shelled and torpedoed by the Norwegian motor torpedo boat MTB 56. The vessel was immediately engulfed in flames and sank near Kyrholmen. Borgny had a Norwegian crew of 14, none of whom survived. The Germans fired a few rounds at the Norwegian vessel, which deployed a smoke screen and disappeared. MT Borgny was the first ship to be sunk by Norwegian motor torpedo boats along the Norwegian coast.
