World War IIDS Føina

The Norwegian DS Føina was torpedoed on 10 December 1939 by the German U-boat U-20 off the northeastern coast of Scotland. The vessel was en route in ballast from Sarpsborg to Grangemouth to pick up a cargo of coke for Oslo. The only sign of the ship was a lifeboat found on 12 December 1939 on the northeastern coast of Scotland, half-filled with water and containing the bodies of two crew members. The entire crew of 18 men perished in the sinking.
