Anders Andersen Folvik var påmønstret  på det britiske flytende hvalkokeriet SS Southern Empress. Folvik måtte gå i land grunnet sykdom og døde på Western Infirmery 16. mai 1942. Senere gravlagt på Stokke kirkegård.
