World War IDS Venus

DS Venus was struck by a mine on April 14th, 1917, by a mine laid by the German U-boat UC-50 east of Berwick. The ship was en route from Blyth to Drammen with a cargo of coal. Fourteen people perished in the shipwreck, and one was later rescued by a trawler. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
