World War IIMS Topeka
The Norwegian MS Topeka was sailing in convoy from southern Norway to Narvik/Ofoten with a cargo of cement and timber. The convoy was dispersed near Alstahaug. On 4 October 1943, Topeka was attacked by Allied aircraft near Horn, north of Sandnessjøen. The vessel caught fire and drifted ashore near Løkka. The captain and steward were killed in the attack, and the pilot later died from his injuries. Three members of the German gun crew on board were also killed.
