World War IIKarl Nilsson

Karl Nilsson was on MS Herstein which was attacked by Japanese aircraft in Rabaul, New Britan. The crew was captured and sent aboard in the Japanese SS Montevideo Maru. Nilsson was killed on July 1,1942 when the ship was sunk in the Pacific Ocean on the way to Japan. None of the 1054 prisoners survived the sinking.
