World War ISteel barque Carmanian
Steel barque Carmanian was sunk on April 25, 1916, by the German U-boat U-19. The ship was en route from Buenos Aires to Falmouth carrying a cargo of wheat. Three people lost their lives in the shipwreck. The survivors gathered in two lifeboats and landed at Ballydavid Head. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no and uboat.net)
