World War IStålbark Urania
Bark Urania was torpedoed on March 28, 1917, by the German U-boat UC-42, approximately 12 nautical miles east of Cropinsay. The ship was en route from New York to Nyborg, carrying a cargo of phosphate. Seven people lost their lives in the shipwreck. Shortly after the torpedoing, four of the survivors lost their lives when the ship Sara was torpedoed while en route to Bergen. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
