World War IIDS Anderson
SS Anderson ran aground on February 9, 1942, in a storm and snow squalls near Cape Race, Newfoundland, and was wrecked in the heavy seas. The crew managed to launch the lifeboats, but one of them was smashed against the rocks, and eight men lost their lives. In the other lifeboat, one man was swept overboard by a wave and disappeared.
