World War IDS Aranda
DS Aranda was struck by a mine and sunk on August 5, 1916, from a mine laid by the German U-boat U-78, outside Skerryvore lighthouse. The ship was en route from Bonaventure to Glasgow, carrying a cargo of timber. Unfortunately, 2 people lost their lives in the sinking. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
