World War IDS Argo
DS Argo was struck by a mine on January 28, 1917, by the German U-boat UC-26, near Inner Dowsing lighthouse. The ship was en route from Hull to Rouen carrying a cargo of coal. Tragically, 9 persons lost their lives in the sinking. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
