World War IIDS Belize
DS Belize was torpedoed on the 21st of January 1942 by the German U-boat U-754 in position 4721N, 5208W. The ship was on a voyage from New York to St. Johns, NF and was expected to arrive the 21st of January. Three days later a halfsunken lifeboat was discovered by a Canadian Covette 25 n. miles east of St. Johns. 18 Norwegians, five Swedes, a Dane and one from Honduras perished in the sinking.
