World War IIDS Borgund

The Norwegian DS Borgund disappeared without a trace while sailing alone from Reykjavik to Scrabster, Scotland. The vessel departed on 25 March 1941 with an expected arrival on 30 March. The British Admiralty assumed that the ship was sunk by German aircraft. The date of loss was set to 28 March 1941. All 13 crew members perished in the sinking, including two Icelanders. Earlier, in June 1940, the ship had rescued around 30 British naval personnel from the sunken aircraft carrier Glorious and the destroyer Acasta.
