World War IIDS Bravore
SS Bravore was on a voyage from Tyne to Rouen, France with coal, when on the 22nd of April 1940, at 13:50 hit a mine and sank four nautical miles outside of Ramsgate in the English Channel. 11 Norwegians perished, including three Britons, one Polish and five French soldiers. The crew consisted of 19 men and the Captain, Otto Tjørve, was the first captain of the Nortraship merchant fleet that perished in active service.
