World War IDS Crathorne
DS Crathorne was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-64 on December 10, 1917, and sank off Villajoyosa and Benidorm. The ship was en route from Baltimore to Genoa, carrying wheat flour. Two firemen died instantly from the explosion, and a third fireman died later from burn injuries. The survivors reached land at Villajoyosa. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
