World War IIDS Draugen
The Norwegian salvage vessel DS Draugen was en route from Ålesund to an assignment in Sagvåg, Sunnhordland, when it entered a German minefield blocking access to Herdlefjorden on 15 July 1940. Prior to this, the vessel had been hailed by the German control station at Hagelsundet on Flatøy, but no attempt was made to inform the crew of the minefield obstructing the passage. Draugen sank midway between Steinsneset and Danmarkneset. Six of the ten crew members were lost in the sinking.
