World War IIDS Folden

The Norwegian DS Folden was a local service vessel operating along the Helgeland coast. On 25 April 1940, while en route from Myken to Indre Kvarøy, the ship was attacked by German aircraft with machine-gun fire and bombs. Of the 21 people on board, six were killed. Folden burned down to a wreck but was later rebuilt following extensive repairs in Bodø. The ship returned to service in July 1944 and was broken up in 1961.
