World War IIDS Gyda
SS Gyda was on a journey from Glasgow to Bathrust with 1980 tons salt, when the ship on the 18th of July 1940 was torpedoed by a the German uboat U-58 in position 56N, 10W. The entire shipside was immediately shredded away. They could not manage to turn off the machines so the ship went full speed ahead down in the sea, and sunk in under a minute.
