World War IIDS Hai Ping
SS Hai Ping was interned by Japanese authorities in Bangkok on December 9, 1941. The crew was ordered to submit to Japanese control, which they refused, leading to their disembarkation. Hai Ping left the harbor the following day under Japanese flag. Later in the war, the ship was renamed Linda Maru and was sunk by Allied forces on February 16, 1945.
