World War IIDS Halldor
On the 9th of December 1941 SS Halldor arrived at Hongkong from Bangkok during the initial Japanese attack. The japanese forces bombarded the city from the hills, and on the 16th December 1941 Halldor was directly in the line of fire and was hit by several projectiles which killed two Norwegians. Four surviving Norwegians was taken into captivity by the Japanese. One of these survivors died during the captivity. Halldor was captured by the Japanese and renamed to Haruta Maru it was later sunk on January 21st 1945 by American aircraft south of Hong Kong.
