World War IISS Hans Egede

The Danish SS Hans Egede was torpedoed on 6 March 1942 by the German U-boat U-587 off the coast of Newfoundland. The vessel was en route from Ivigtut, Greenland, to Philadelphia. The entire crew of 24 perished in the sinking, including one Norwegian.
