World War IIDS Henry
The Norwegian DS Henry was sailing together with the coastal express vessel DS Irma across Hustadvika on 13 February 1944 when Henry was shelled and torpedoed by the Norwegian motor torpedo boat MTB 653. Henry was sunk in the same attack that also brought down Irma. The vessel was carrying a cargo of stone and had departed from Risør. Two crew members were lost. One of Henry‘s lifeboats picked up six survivors from the sunken Irma, as well as three others found in the water. The lifeboat was brought ashore by the lighthouse keeper at Hestskjær and later taken to Kristiansund.
