World War IDS Joachim Brinch Lund

DS Joachim Brinch Lund was sunk by the German U-boat U-26 on November 16, 1916. The ship was en route from Santander to Sunderland, carrying iron ore. After the shipwreck, the German U-boat confiscated the food supplies from one of the two lifeboats. Nine people lost their lives in the shipwreck, and four survivors were later rescued by the French ship Pluton. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no and “Med norsk skib i verdenskrigen”)
