World War IIDS Korsnes

The DS Korsnes was sailing alongside the German vessel Rigel and three German patrol boats when the convoy was attacked by a large number of British aircraft on 27 November 1944 near Tjøtta on the Helgeland coast. Korsnes was severely damaged and was run aground. Six crew members lost their lives in the attack. The vessel was later taken to Bergen in 1945, repaired, and returned to service. Korsnes was scrapped in 1965.
