World War IDS Laila
DS Laila was torpedoed by the German uboat UB-126 on October 12, 1918, northwest of Mull of Galloway. The ship was en route from Castro Urdiales to Androssan with a cargo of iron ore. Seventeen people died in the shipwreck, including four Danes, two Swedes, and one person from Costa Rica. Four individuals were rescued by a British warship and brought ashore at Lorne
